There are two inevitables in life: ageing and death. Though you may not yet have entered the afternoon or evening of your life, you are always in the process of ageing.

Death is the surprising presence that walks with you constantly, nearer and nearer as you get older. Turning towards your inevitable death can spotlight what is most important to us and reminds us that we don't have time to waste!

During the course of this day together, we will explore how to do growing older and passing over well, with curiousity and courage.

Now is your time to explore this vital and all important fact of life. Over our hours together, we shall focus on three themes:

  • ageing with style and panache, secondly,
  • how to begin, if you have not previously done so, to welcome death and dying and most importantly
  • how to maintain a sense of humour and lightness of heart through it all.

"When it's over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms."             -Mary Oliver

Samhain, the Celtic season of harvesting, the dying and death of nature all around us, is the most appropriate time to take these phases to heart ourselves. We shall be honouring our ancestors too in a ritual as we approach the dying of our own day together.

Sharing songs, chants, stories, poems and wisdom, Nóirín and Lucia, both renowned and highly experienced group leaders, will guide us gently into this next stepping stone in your life which is in essence a spiritual leap.

Meister Eckhart, the twelfth century mystic beautifully describes this life’s pilgrimage as one of a quest for wisdom: “Wisdom is finding the next thing you have to do, doing it with your heart and finding delight in doing it.

This day workshop is that next adventure that you are invited to embrace in the longing for Sophia [wisdom].

Bring that open heart to it and you will find the joy, delight and nourishment for your ageing soul where the passage of time can never touch a chord.

Ag tnúth go mór le do láithreacht – So looking forward to your presence and wisdom among us.
